Abrigo Da Casinha is a beautiful and private 15-acre mountainside family estate, just seven kilometers from the town of Monchique and a half-hour drive from Portimão on the coast, is a “paradise on earth”, a haven of peace and quiet surrounded by olive trees and eucalyptus groves.

At 700 m (2,300 ft) above sea level, Abrigo Da Casinha has it all – stunning views and hilltop serenity, yet close to the beaches and towns on the southern and western coasts and to numerous points of historical interest.  Shopping is easy and convenient.  You’ll find everything you need—including a  well-stocked supermarket, locally-sourced foods at the open-air fish market and vegetable stalls, and a wide variety of local arts and crafts shops—in the colourful town of Monchique, only 15 minutes down the road.

Abrigo Da Casinha offers three houses for rent, each situated on a different level of the property. All three face due south toward the Algarve coast and are well separated from one another, allowing guests to enjoy freedom, privacy and that ultra-precious commodity – space. The larger two, “A Casinha” and “Casa Da Menina” have their own private pools, while the smaller “Casa de los Caseiros”, has a large terrace with a pergola and the same outstanding view of the sea. Each house has its own driveway and parking area and can be rented separately or in combination with the others, making it an ideal location for large groups. The ample outdoor space, including a clearing on the property surrounded by eucalyptus and other local mountain plants and flowers, is well suited for family get-togethers such as weddings, retreats, and reunions.

Each or all of the houses can be rented throughout the year. In the summer, enjoy warm, sunny days, delightfully cool evenings and stars so bright at night you can almost touch them. Winter on the mountainside has its charms as well:  crisp, invigorating days and evenings spent relaxing with a good book in front of a wood-burning fireplace or one of the open cast-iron stoves so typical of the region. Whichever the season, enjoy long walks along country roads in the fresh mountain air or hike from your house up the mountainside to Fóia, which at 902 m (2,959 ft) above sea level is the highest point in the Algarve.
